Inside story of how John Mahama snubbed Peace Council

Information available to The Herald say the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress,Mr John Dramani Mahama refused to meet members of the Peace Council this afternoon.

According to The Herald sources, the Peace Council who arrived in two vehicles this afternoon at the office of the former President at Cantoments could not see him.

Although the reason for their going to see the former President is not known, It is believed they were expected to convince the former President to concede defeat in the face of disputes over electoral results.

Not happy with the behaviour of the Peace Council in the perceived stands it has taken against the National Democratic Congress, the Flagbearer is said to have told the council he did not have the time to meet them.

This forced the 13-member Peace Council headed by Prof. Rev Emmamuel Asante to make their way back.

Tension is still high in Ghana after the Electoral Commission which is cloned with the exclusive right as the returning officer for the presidential election has failed to declare the results.

Both New Patriotic Party led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and former President John Dramani Mahama who led the National Democratic Congress into the 2020 polls are disputing the results with each claiming victory.

The former President,Mr Dramani Mahama had on Tuesday evening served warning of his party’s resolve not to accept a stolen verdict.

On the evening of making this declaration, Mr Mahama who looked infuriated, stressed that they won the elections based on their figures and that the military was aiding the government to overturn results.
