Kweku Ricketts beats U-Turn; set to contest seat again
Former Deputy Finance Minister in the Mahama-led administration, Kweku Rickett Hagan has declared his intention to contest the Parliamentary Seat for Cape Coast South for the third time running.
His decision is indeed contrary to his words in the run-up to the 2016 elections when he indicated that it was his last time contesting the seat hence paving way for new candidates.
Speaking in an interview with Kasapa News Central Regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, the former minister indicating that pressure from the constituents has made him rescind his decision not to contest.
He indicated that the calls are even backed by research conducted by stalwarts of the Research by the party which point to the fact that he is best positioned to retain the seat for the NDC for the third time running.
He added that he has accepted the challenge to lead the party out of respect for the constituency, party faithful and in furthering the ultimate agenda of the party in winning more parliamentary seats especially in retaining the Cape Coast South Seat.
He indicated that he will do everything within his power in supporting John Mahama and NDC bounce back to power.
