Professor Kwesi Botchway, a leading member of the NDC, has cautioned delegates of the party to desist from voting for aspirants who influence them with money for votes.
According to him, this would enable the party regain its position and integrity when such leaders are prevented from rising in the party.
The caution comes when the party is in the process of electing leaders from the branch level to the position of flagbearer.
He sounded the caution during the June 4 revolutionary lectures, where he said that the party’s defeat in the 2016 elections is as a result of such tendencies.
In 2016, Professor Botchway headed the National Democratic Congress’s 13-member committee to scrutinize the cause of the party’s defeat in the last elections.
President John Mahama was defeated by President Akufo-Addo in the last election.Titled, ‘listening to the grassroots’, the report stated that the NDC must take urgent steps to restore the integrity of the register.
The Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, presenting findings of the report indicated that the recommendations will help capture power for the NDC in the next elections in 2020.
