Kweku Baako says the damage caused to president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantayi, by the yet-to-be aired video is “irreparable” and would struggle to redeem his integrity.
Speaking on Joy FM’s News Analysis show, “Newsfile” on Saturday, the editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, said the evidence contained in the video is incontrovertible and would be difficult for the FA president to exonerate himself.
Asked by the host, Samson Lardy Anyenini whether Mr Nyantakyi could redeem his reputation, Mr Baako answered, “Well, considering the evidence in the video, it would be very difficult for him to repair the damage that may have been cause.
“You know, I like Nyantakyi and I have defended him for years but this will affect his integrity. But don’t get me wrong, I am not saying he is guilty.”
In a secret audio-visual recording by Anas, titled, “Number 12”, the president of the Ghana Football Association, GFA, is heard saying, “I have President Akufo-Addo in my pocket and can secure any contract, it’s just a matter of paying”.
He adds: “Ghana is the easiest place to do business. All you have to do is pay the president $5 million and pay the vice president $3 million and we will control this country.”
President Akufo-Addo reported him on Tuesday, 22 May after having been privy to investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Number 12 undercover documentary.
The full documentary is expected to be aired on June 6, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Center.
