A team of security officers this morning, 23 November 2021 demolished shops and several properties worth several hundreds of cedis at Labone junction in the Greater Accra region.
The task force team from the La-Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly destroyed containers as shop owners looked on helpless.
According to some of the victims, who spoke on the mid-day news on Accra 100.5 FM, they were not given the opportunity to salvage their wares in the shops during the exercise.
Some of the victims have had their shops in the area not far from the Labone Secondary Senior High School as well as the Osu Children’s Home for the past 20 years.
They contend that they were only given a one-month notice to vacate the area adding that their plea to have the date for the commencement of the exercise extended had fallen on deaf ears.
The victims are, however, alleging that the leadership of the Assembly is working in the interest of a company by the name, Compu Ghana Limited, a computer dealership company to put up an ultra-modern office space in the plush elite area.
