Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson, has expressed gratitude to her fans after winning the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award (AMVCA) for best supporting role.
Miss Forson was the only Ghanaian actress nominated for the “Best Supporting Actress Movie/TV Series’ for her role as Kukua in the movie, ‘Isoken’.
Ghana had seven nominations in this year’s awards. Shirley Frimpong Manso and Sparrow productions got four nominations, actor Adjetey Anang won ‘Best Actor in Drama Movie/TV Series’ which was one of the two categories he was nominated for.
“This is my first AMVCA, I mean I have won almost every award. I have never won an AMVCA so this year I came in on the fence. I really wanted to win, but I had so much respect for all the other people in the category.
“I was telling somebody that I am the only actress from Ghana; Pressure. If I don’t win the headline will be Ghana loses,” Lydia told MzGee.
“At the point where people say that our industry is struggling, I refuse to say the industry is dead, it is not dead. Everything goes through a phase if you want something to die you kill it with your mouth but I think this is a testament that yes the industry is struggling but some of us are working day in day out to make Ghana proud,” she said.
