‘Mahama is NDC’s surest bet in 2020’

Felix Kwakye Ofosu says former President John Mahama is ideal candidate to lead the National Democratic Congress in the 2020 general election.

Mr Mahama in a post on his Facebook wall, Sunday, May 2018, gave an indication of his preparedness to contest the flag bearer position of the umbrella family looking at the numerous calls he has received from the rank and file of the NDC.

“I want to congratulate the rank and file and executives of our party, the NDC, at all levels for the commitment and work rate we have put into our reorganization efforts. The zeal and determination of the average sympathizer of our party is greater and miles ahead of what it was after the December 2016 elections. We need to keep up with the momentum generated and follow the published timelines”.

“To you the teeming supporters and sympathizers calling and requesting me to declare my intentions for the future, I wish to assure you today, that as a servant-leader, I have listened to your calls and reflected. I will not disappoint you even as we await the publication of the party’s guidelines for selecting a new leader”, noted Mr. Mahama on his Facebook wall.
The former communications minister added that he was happy with Mr Mahama’s announcement, adding that, “he is the NDC’s surest bet for the next elections.

“I am happy that the former President has decided to make this move to redeem Ghana from economic hardship. He has been an Assemblyman, MP, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice-President and President before. Nobody in Ghana at the moment is more knowledgeable in governance than former President Mahama. So, if it has become necessary to push out the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo and bring in a new President, then it must be the former President John Mahama”, he told Okay FM in interview. .

He added “It is based on his experience in governance at this moment that he is the best person in the NDC to contest Nana Addo for power”.
