Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, has said that her description of the John Mahama led-administration as incompetent was not a personal attack but a “fact.”
The second lady during the 2016 election campaign described the former president as incompetent and indicated that “It wasn’t a personal attack on him. Not many people will say he is not a good guy.”
The Second Lady who was speaking on Citi FM said the leadership style of the former leader was what attracted criticism and added that his government could have done more, considering the state of the country that was handed over to the NDC.
“The opportunity they had in 2009, I believe he could have done more as a president. The country had potential to be taken to a better place,” she stated.
She added that though a government cannot solve Ghana’s problems totally, the country’s leaders must be determined to solve issues.
During the 2016 campaign, Mrs. Bawumia said “We are saying to the NDC that we see you alright…you want us to see you, we see you but we see incompetence, we see you but we see corruption, we see you but we see bad management, we see you but we see bad governance, we see you but we want change, we see you but we want Ghana to move forward”.
A description, which was often used by her husband Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia concerning the Mahama led administration during the 2016 campaign.
Former President Mahama admitted during an event in London, early this year that “They kept shouting incompetence, incompetence, incompetence until our own people started believing that we are incompetent.”
