Moree SHS to be named after the late Amissah-Arthur
Government has directed for Moree Senior High and Technical School in Cape Coast in the Central Region to be named after the late vice president of Ghana, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.
The announcement was made in the tribute of government read by Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia during the final funeral rites of the late vice president in Accra on Friday, July 27, 2018.
“Many has been said about the illustrious man of this great country, Ghana but many remains unsaid.
“He would not hurt a fly and is a remarkable person who served his country well… the government will remember him for his immense contribution towards the development of this country and wishes to name Moree Senior High School after him,” Dr Bawumia announced.
People from all walks of life attended the farewell ceremony for the late vice president, to pay their last respect to him and console his family.
Amissah-Arthur collapsed at the Air Force Gym, and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Friday, June 29, 2018.
Born on April 29, 1951, the economist, academic and politician was the sixth Vice-President of Ghana, in office from August 6, 2012 until January 7, 2017, under President John Mahama.
He also served as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana from 2009 to 2012.
