A trader allegedly poured hot water on her sixteen years old daughter whom she has accused of stealing her Five Ghana cedis (Gh¢) to buy food without telling her.
Rahinatu Issah, a forty-one years old mother who has been put before an Accra Circuit Court charged with causing unlawful harm pleaded not guilty of the offense.
The prosecution said the accused, however, cautioned the victim not to enter her room because the victim had stolen ¢5 to buy food without her consent.
According to the Prosecutor, the accused who was then preparing hot water for the victim’s siblings poured some of the hot water on her and she sustained severe burns on her back and buttocks.
“In accused caution statement, she admitted the offense,” the Prosecutor said.
The Court presided over by Christina Cann has adjourned the case to 18th October 2021.
This is the act of child brutality among Ghanaian societies.
