The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) will, beginning next year, deploy a digital platform to effectively monitor the attendance and performance of beneficiaries of the programme.
The Greater Accra Regional Coordinator of NABCO, Hajj Baba Mohammed, who made this known, said the technology would also help track the geographical location of NABCO trainees whenever they clocked in.
He said the platform, which was currently being test-run by a consultant, would also make it possible for officials of the programme to track the activities of trainees to ensure that the payment of allowances was made to deserving trainees.
“The expectation is that the consultant will be ready by next month so that we can finalise processes for deployment next year. With the clock-in system, we’ll be able to know the geographical location of trainees at any point to ensure that they contribute meaningfully to improve work at their respective agencies,” Hajj Mohammed said.
He was speaking at a media briefing as part of activities to mark the first anniversary of NABCO in the Greater Accra Region.
About 31,809 trainees were deployed to serve in the seven modules of NABCO in the Greater Accra Region last year, representing 21.9 per cent of the total national deployment.
Hajj Mohammed said there had been improvement in the output of the agencies where NABCO trainees were posted, especially under the revenue, education, health and agriculture modules.

He said the deployment of the clock-in system would further consolidate the gains to ensure that the programme made the desired impact in the country.
“We have systems in place at the district, regional and national levels to check attendance and pay only people who work. Trainees can only cheat the system with the connivance of supervisors who are supposed to monitor. So far, we have not seen any such thing, so whoever has contrary information can let us have it and work on it,” the coordinator said.
Touching on arrears owed some NABCO beneficiaries, he said all people who followed the requirements of the programme had been paid their allowances.
“If some of the trainees have not been paid, they cannot blame NABCO for that because they are supposed to submit time sheets by the 23rd of every month for validation and payments, but some of them fail to do so.
“They are graduates and we expect them to follow simple instructions. Some of them see notifications to go to our portal and give updates, but they refuse to do so,” Hajj Mohammed added.
The Greater Accra Research and Training Officer of NABCO, Mr Philip Nii Adjei Assafuah, said the deployment of the digital platform would bring efficiency into information sharing on the activities of beneficiaries of the programme.
