Kwesi Pratt Jnr Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper has said that he is not the least amused by the inconsistency in some declarations by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
“Akufo-Addo, my friend visited Mr Rawlings in his home while he was alive and referred to him as the founder of the Fourth Republic. If one man cannot be the founder of Ghana, how can the late President Rawlings be the founder of the Fourth Republic? The inconsistency kills me,” Mr Pratt recounted.
Addressing the visibly charged audiences of Pan-Africanists, the veteran journalist said, “Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the sole founder of the Republic of Ghana. All of you seated here know the truth. But it is not convenient to speak the truth.
“When we celebrate Founder’s Day we celebrate the mobilization of women, mobilization of the youth, mobilization of the working people and everybody who upholds for justice… And that is why Nkrumah will forever tower over them all.
“The plotters of the 1966 coup, are now here to tell us that Founders’ Day is August 4, but we will continue to celebrate September 21, the birthday of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah as the Founder’s day”.
Mr. Kwesi Pratt made these remarks during the celebration of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day organized by the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) in collaboration with Pan African TV on September 21, 2021.
Present at the event held under the theme: Nkrumah, Independence and the Ghanaian Reality are notable persons like Prof Akilagpa Sawyerr, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, Bernard Mornah, Peter Boamah Otokunor, Nana Yaa Jantuah, among others.
