NDC loses member of Council of Elders, declares 3 days of mourning
The National Democratic Congress has declared three days of mourning for a member of the party’s Council of Elders, Alhaji Ussifu Ali, who died in Accra Thursday.
Alhaji Ussifu Ali who was one of the party’s first co-national chairmen died at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital after a short illness.
“The NDC wishes to declare three days of mourning in memory of our former leader. During this period, all party flags shall fly at half-mast,” a statement issued by the NDC stated.
He was buried Wednesday at the Kasoa Ahmahdiya Muslim Cemetery after a short ceremony at his residence in Tesano, Accra.
A final funeral rite, popularly known in Islam as Adua, will be held at his Tesano residence on Thursday, April 11.

Former President John Mahama who visited Alhaji Aliu two weeks ago said he was “cheerful and feeling relatively well”.
