Sammy Gyamfi, a member of the NDC communications team has launched a vicious attack on incumbent government over perceived failure in the fight against corruption.
“We are retrogressing in our fight against corruption…not too long-ago Transparency International released their corruption perception report and our performance in 2017 was the worst ever,” Mr Gyamfi said.
According to him, it’s more disappointing as the Akufo-Addo led government rode on the back of an anti-corruption agenda to win power.
“The only thing the current government can boast of is the office of the special prosecutor, which has not “arrested” even one culprit yet. Since the office was established, there hasn’t been any successful investigative project or prosecution,” he retorted.
He faulted government for starving the outfit of resources and logistics needed for the performance of its duty.
“If you go to his office at Labone, you’ll realise that it’s only a table and chair they have provided for him there… He doesn’t even have the full benefit of the staff that he needs to work with.
“You don’t fight corruption by the mere establishment of institutions”, he alluded
He added that there has not been a time in this country; the nation has seen a corruption infested government as the ruling NPP.
He resultantly, criticised President Akufo-Addo stressing that he “is rewarding corrupt officers of state… instead of punishing them”.
