Normalization Committee is politically inclined, says Eleven Wonders GM
Controversial football administrator, Takyi Arhin has accused the government of ensuring that members of the newly instituted normalization committee are people who belong to their party.
At the premises of the Ghana Football Association last week Thursday, a FIFA delegation named a four-member committee to see the day to day running of football in the country.
The committee is made up of Dr. Kofi Amoah as President, Former Airtel CEO Lucy Quist, ex-Kotoko Board Member Kofi Dua-Adonteng, and Naa Odofoley Nortey, a board member of the Attorney General department complete the list of members of the committee.
However, the Eleven Wonders General Manager believes that members on the Normalization Committee belong to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and it is not the best if their aim is to reform football in the country.
According to him, the committee set up by FIFA and government cannot succeed due to the fact that it is politically inclined.
“Almost all the members of the Normalization committee belong to the same political background,” he told Asempa FM.
“Nothing good will come out of this committee (normalization committee).
“I don’t trust them to do a good job at all,” he added
Takyi Arhin who is the Brong Ahafo Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress further indicated that the only person fit to do the job in the committee is Lawyer Duah Adonteng.
The normalisation committee’s mandate will include the following tasks:
– To run the GFA’s daily affairs and cooperate with the special task force once it has been set up by FIFA, CAF and the Government of Ghana;
– To review the GFA statutes to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF, particularly art. 15 of the FIFA Statutes, and;
– Once the GFA statutes meet the requirements of FIFA and CAF, to organise and conduct elections of a GFA executive committee on the basis of the revised GFA statutes.
The work of the Normalization Committee is expected to end on March 2019.
