In August this year, the Government through the ministry of health issued a directive to heads of nursing and midwifery training colleges across the country to suspend the implementation of the 2021/2022 academic year. Per the statement, the suspension was to allow the final year students write their licensure examination in December. It added that, the suspension was also to provide physical space for the students to observe social distancing, a requirement in the covid-19 protocols.
This directive came at a time some institutions had completed with interviews and started issuing admission letters and bills to qualified applicants.
CitizenOne can once again report that, the Government has finally announced the date for reporting for first year students into the various 79 public nursing and midwifery training colleges. In a statement issued on 15th September, the ministry of health set January 10 2022 as the admission date for all applicants into the health training institutions.
This means, management of the verious public health training colleges can resume the admission processes prior to reporting date next year. The ministry defended it’s decision to suspend the academic calendar in an earlier statement.
