Nyantakyi made huge mistakes – Afriyie Ankrah

Former Youth and Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has mentioned that former GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi should have relinquished his position at the time when everything was going right in Ghana football.

The former CAF 1st vice president has made the headlines for the bad reason when he was exposed in the ‘Number 12’ video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Mr Nyantakyi was filmed involving himself in unlawful dealings in relation to sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League and the country’s Presidency.

According to him, former FIFA Council Member reign had some positives and that he should have left his post when the applause was loud.

“I think that Kwesi Nyantakyi should have left when applauds was loudest. If he is being honest with himself, he had given clear indications that he was going to leave,” Afriyie Ankrah said on Point Blank on Citi Eyewitness News Wednesday night.

“This should be a lesson to all of us, especially politicians who hold elective positions; you leave when the applause is loudest. All these things wouldn’t have gotten this bad if he had stuck with his decision to leave.

“That’s the lesson we can all draw from this. You leave when the applause is loudest. Despite his foibles, he had done so much and he should have just left,” he added.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah was Youth and Sports Minister when Ghana played at the  2014 world cup in Brazil.
