Police in Ningo Prampram in the Greater Accra region have arrested one person in connection with the murder of a family at Zutsukpo a village near Prampram.
The suspect whose identity is being held by the Police for security reasons was picked up shortly after the incident.
Fifty-year-old Quao Omar, his wife, and five-year-old son were allegedly ambushed and killed last Thursday night and later set ablaze in their vehicle.
The Prampram Divisional Police Commander ACP Dodzi Hlordzi, who confirmed the arrest to Citi News, said the Police has mounted a search for other suspects.
According to reports, the couple and their 5-year old child were in their pickup truck double cabin when unknown persons shot and set their vehicle ablaze.
The Prampram Divisional Police Commander, ACP Dodzi Hlordzi, in a Citi News interview said that preliminary investigations show that the three were shot before being set on fire.
The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George had also called for calm as Police investigate the gruesome murder of the family.
Although Police are yet to ascertain what may have led to this ghastly act, Mr Nartey George blames it on possible land litigation between two families.
