Thomas Partey’s former Atletico Madrid teammate, Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante, believes the Ghana midfielder will become a very important player for Arsenal.
The Manchester City midfielder and Partey played together at the Spanish side in the 2018/19 season before he joined Pep’s side that summer, while Arsenal signed Partey last summer.
Rodri says they controlled proceedings in their one season together playing for the Rojiblancos, and it would be good to see him again.
“I have good memories of playing with Thomas – we played a lot of games together,” he told Sky Sports.
“We controlled the midfield of the team in that season. He’s two years older than me, but we’re a similar age and he’s a very funny guy.
“We had a good friendship, so it’s good to see your old teammates again. Let’s see if he’s ready for Sunday, but he will be a very important player for Arsenal.”
The 27-year-old made his Arsenal debut against City back in October 2020 as a late substitute and is out with a hamstring problem. He’s a doubt for Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.
