Prampram police escapees leader grabbed
Michael Nartey, the ringleader of the three fugitives, who escaped from the cells of the Prampram Police Station, has been re-arrested at his hideout at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.
He is currently in the custody of the Ashaiman District Police Headquarters assisting the police in their investigations.
However, the police officers, who were on duty when the incident occurred, had been given a two-week ultimatum to either produce the inmates on the run or face internal disciplinary action.
Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Obenefo Darkwah, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Tema Regional Police Command, said that his outfit was on a manhunt for three remand prisoners, who escaped from police cells on Monday, April 22, 2018.
He disclosed that the three fugitives escaped from the police cells through the ceiling at about 11.20pm.
Another inmate alerted the police on duty after the inmates had escaped.
According to him, the police rushed to the cells and realised that the ceiling of the cells had been broken and the prisoners, namely Samuel Pardie and Victor Fiagbenu, both remand prisoners and Michael Nartey, a convict, had managed to escape.
The alarm was immediately raised for the pursuit of the inmates, leading to the re-arrest of Michael at Ashaiman.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to apprehend the other inmates, who are still on the run.
The Tema Regional Police Command is therefore appealing to the public to help re-arrest the other inmates.
