Drinks, Accra bedroom, sexual assault, $ bribes - Detailed allegations against David Adjaye
Thanks to the British New paper Financial Times, sordid details of alleged Sexual assault against British-Ghanaian architect David Adjaye will be heard fully in court after he was accused of sexual assault and harassment by three former employees.
One of the cases against him borders on criminality with at least two of the three women having worked for Adjaye in 2018 and 2019 in Accra when the alleged assault happened.
The Financial Times failed to name the women instead using aliases for them. Two of them, Gene and Maya met Adjaye in September 2018 in Accra, where they had moved to set up the Ghana office for Adjaye’s studio, Adjaye Associates.
According to the women, Adjaye has caused them serious mental distress and financial difficulties and disrupted their careers.
The ladies say Adjaye offered them money to keep quiet about the Sexual assault that had allegedly taken place.
Details of Sexual assault Case David Adjaye
The women allege that after a dinner, at which they had hoped to speak to David Adjaye about problems in connection with the Accra office, they went to Adjaye’s corporate apartment where he sexually harassed and assaulted them.
Reports suggests lawyers for Adjaye saying their client “strongly denies making any sexual advances” but confirmed the dinner took place and also that the three went to Adjaye’s apartment after it for a drink, BUT he “strongly denies making any sexual advances towards” them and “categorically denies forcing [Maya] to enter his bedroom and sexually assaulting her”.
The lawyer also denied allegations by Maya that Adjaye asked to meet her the day after the alleged incident and took out money to give to her.
