Ghana Triumph Over Mali with Stunning Comeback in World Cup Qualifier
In a crucial World Cup Qualifier match in Bamako, the Black Stars of Ghana secured their first major victory in 2024 with a dramatic comeback against Mali. The match, held at the Stade du 26 Mars, saw the home side take an early lead when Doumbia scored in the 46th minute, just before half-time.
Coach Otto Addo and his men entered the second half with determination, seeking at least an equalizer. Their efforts paid off when Nuamah's powerful header found the back of the net in the 58th minute, leveling the score at 1-1.
The equalizer energized the Black Stars, and a tactical substitution by Coach Addo brought Crystal Palace star Jordan Ayew onto the field.
Ayew proved to be the game-changer, scoring the winning goal that sealed Ghana's 2-1 victory over Mali. This crucial away win boosted Ghana to second place on the qualification table with 6 points, keeping their World Cup dreams alive.
The Black Stars will now focus on their next challenge, facing the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10th.
