Akufo-Addo Has Beaten John Mahama with Jamestown Port - Tema MCE
The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has said the new Fishing Harbour at James Town, is a feat by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government that former President Mahama has no answer to.
In a write-up on social media, the MCE said the new Fishing Harbour also marks a new level of accomplishment for infrastructural development that show that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government is better than the erstwhile John Mahama government.
“The Jamestown fishing harbour obviously widens the gap between the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government and the government that Mr. John Mahama led from 2012 to 2016,” the MCE wrote.
According to him, even though the Mahama government has for a long time, made infrastructural development as its main trump card, the current government has not only pulled parity, but surpassed the NDC government in the infrastructure track record.
“In the last seven and a half years, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has surpassed the previous Mahama government in respect of road infrastructure, educational infrastructure and health infrastructure making their trump card on infrastructure irrelevant.
“The commissioning of the James Town Fishing Harbour ups the ante in the infrastructure track record contest, for the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government because the Mahama government cannot boast of any harbour infrastructure,” the Tema MCE wrote.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, on Friday, September 13, commissioned the James Towen fishing harbour in Accra.
The multimillion-dollar project, constructed by the CRCC Harbour and Channel Engineering Bureau Group Co. Ltd. under the China Aid to Ghana Fishing Port Complex Project, is expected to transform the livelihoods of the local fishing community in Accra and enhance the country’s fishing operations.
With a fish market comprising 112 stalls, a 60-ton-per-day ice-making plant, and a cold storage capacity of 600 tons, the Jamestown Fishing Harbour is being hailed as a milestone project that aligns with the government’s vision to support sustainable resource management and food security.
The facility also includes a ship repair workshop, administration blocks, and fire safety systems to ensure smooth operations and long-term sustainability.
According to Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey, “infrastructural projects like the fishing harbour is what Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia envisions to expand upon, if he becomes president.”
