    President Akufo Addo sacks Director General of National Sports Authority

    The appointment of the Director General of National Sports Authority  (NSA), Dodzie Numekevor, has been terminated with immediate effect by President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

    This arises from the recent ban imposed on Ghana by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) for failing to provide standard stadia for the ongoing 2025 AFCON qualifying matches.

    The termination of the appointment letter released from the Office of the President on Tuesday, 17th September 2024 and signed by Presidential Secretary Nana Bediatuo Asante read;

    "I am directed by the President of the Republic to inform you that your appointment as Director General of the National Sports Authority has been terminated with immediate effect"

    "You are directed to hand over your office to the Chairman of the governing body of the Authority".

    It may be recalled that the aftermath of the Morocco 2025 AFCON qualifier between the Black Stars and Angola played in Kumasi on 5th September 2024 was full of criticism due to the bad state of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

    Few days after the epic encounter which the Black Stars lost 1-0, CAF banned the Baba Yara Stadium from hosting official matches citing it doesn't meet the standard and requirement of the Africa Football governing body.
