The president of Kenpong Academy, Mr Kennedy Agyepong recently undertook trips to Norway, Denmark and Belgium for meetings with European partners of the club which centered on collaborations, twinning & exchange programs and transfer of players abroad.
As one of the leading soccer academies in Ghana, the Kenpong Academy has built a state of the art facilities for a modern soccer academy.
They include a 64-room dormitory facility, a modern kitchen and dining hall, classrooms, an office complex, a gym, dressing rooms, an orchid, swimming pool, a natural grass pitch with underground drainage, an artificial grass pitch under construction with adjoining parcels of land for expansion and future development.
The academy is currently operational with 35 players and a staff strength of 12 made up of coaches, trainers, teachers, development and performance analysts, administrative and allied staff, among others
The academy has recently been visited by officials from some top European clubs including Barcelona and FC Bastia.
The recent trip by Mr Agyepong to Europe was to firm up arrangements and preparations for the transfer of players to some partner clubs during the next window.
It is noteworthy that Ghana’s embassies in the countries concerned have extended their hand of cooperation and support to the efforts and activities of Kenpong Academy in Europe.
Two (2) Embassies singled out for praise are the Ghana Embassies in Belgium and Denmark headed by His Excellency Mr Henry Tachie Menson and Her Excellency Mrs Sylvia Annoh.
Mr Agyepong expressed his gratitude the 2 Embassies for the support offered to Kenpong.
He said “We are grateful to the Ghana Embassies in Brussels and Copenhagen especially the Ambassadors, His Excellency Mr Tachie Menson and Her Excellency Mrs Sylvia Annoh for participating in meetings and helping us to navigate the local terrain in Belgium and Denmark respectively.
This is a good initiative to facilitate the business and tourism of sports between Ghana and Belgium & Denmark.”
It is the expectation of Mr Kennedy Agyepong that Ghana’s missions abroad would continue to offer the needed support to local sports’ clubs to explore and deepen cooperation with European clubs for their mutual benefit.
