Greater Accra NDC MPs praise Mahama and Nii Ashie Moore after election victory
A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament-elect for constituencies in the Greater Accra region have showered praise on President-elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama for leading the NDC to its greatest victory since the days of party founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings.
In an interview with journalists in Accra, the Greater Accra NDC MPs, through MP-elect for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, also heaped praise on the regional Chairman of the party, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore for what they say is his legendary gallantry.
“The 2024 victory for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, is the most iconic of the Fourth Republic and in the Greater Accra Region, the NDC so asserted its winnings that we cannot but stand in awe of our leader, the President-elect and our regional Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore,” said Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, MP-elect for Tema East.
According to him, this victory, “has established the NDC in the country, but especially in the Greater Accra Region, as the most winsome party of the Fourth Republic. Going into the elections, some doubted, but our regional Chairman and our flagbearer always had strategies.”
Out of 34 seats in the capital region, the NDC won 31 seats. This is 11 seats more compared to the 20 seats that the party held in the region in the 2020 elections.
In the presidential election, President Mahama won a total of 1,260,832 votes out of 1,977,079 of total valid votes cast.
The seats won in the parliamentary election is the highest won by the NDC in the region since the advent of the Fourth Republic.
Interestingly, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman had promised to win a moderate five additional seats to bring the NDC’s seat tally to 25 before the elections. However, the party ended up winning 11 additional seats.
“As MPs-elect from the Greater Accra region, we are humbled by the genius of our regional Chairman who provided the strategic infrastructure and was heavily involved in the training of our polling agents that ensured that this time round, unlike in 2020, there was absolute vigilance. To think that Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, led us to snatch 11 seats from the New Patriotic Party at a time that the NPP is in government evokes nothing but respect for the regional Chairman,” Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten said on behalf of the Greater Accra MPs.
As for President Mahama, the Greater Accra MPs said his comeback will eternally be a source of inspiration for all politicians in Ghana.
“We thank you President Mahama, that that one-term president tag never got to stick on you and by extension, all of us in the NDC. By your victory, you have led the NDC take the lead again in as far as the inter-party tally of election victories are concerned. From victory on to victory, the NDC shall lead indeed”
By the above Hon. Ashai Odamtten was referring to the fact that out nine elections held in the Fourth Republic so far, the NDC has won five while the NPP has won four.
“Meanwhile, we will like to express our deep gratitude to all the executives of our party, from National level to the Branch level, especially for stepping out in your numbers after voting to ensure that our victories were not rigged during collation. Extreme special thanks to our National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey, organizers and most especially, our polling station officers for the yeoman’s job.
Leader of Tema East Women Caucus, Joselyn Quansah, Constituency Organizer, Evans Amarh, Richster Nii Amarh Amarhfio, Theophilus Ankama Densu Tetteh and Osmanu Ashitey, who are leading members in Tema East among others, deserve commendation for their good works.”
