Mahama Is Witch-hunting Mills, Rawlings Followers In NDC - Moshake
The removal of Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu as Minority Leader, and Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak, as Minority Chief Whip is just a continuation of a witch hunt that former President John Mahama has been using the leadership of the NDC to perpetrate against people perceived to be pro-Mills and pro Rawlings in the NDC.
This is according to Mr. Stephen Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, who is a former executive of the Tema East branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“It is not hard to see at all that the shocking changes in Parliament follow a trend in which people perceived to be pro Mills and pro Rawlings in the party have been hounded out by means of elimination by rough tactics,” Moshake wrote.
According to him, “John Mahama is just witch-hunting pro-Mills and pro-Rawlings people in the NDC because he is suspicious of them.”
The writeup comes in the aftermath of the NDC’s national leadership, led by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, announced changes in the leadership of the party in Parliament, making Haruna Iddrisu step down as Minority Leader and Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak step down as Minority Chief Whip.
According to Moshake, “Haruna Iddrisu is a Mills boy while Muntaka is a Rawlings boy,” who have been outstanding in Parliament for the NDC.
“Given that they have led the party so well, what other explanation is there for their removal?” He supplies the answer, “because Mahama does not want them there due to fears that their allegiances remain more with Mills and Rawlings than him.”
Explaining the witch-hunt claim, Moshake points out that the two are not the only ones who have suffered. “Mahama was the one who asked Asiedu Nketia to contest for the position of party chairmanship so that he can replace Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo who is a Mills man.”
He adds, “The Mahama witch-hunt has already led to the sacking of Koku Anyidoho and Allotey Jacobs who were pro-Mills, from the party.”
According to him, the same witch-hunt was what led to the demotion of Dr. Tony Aidoo, a Rawlings man, when Mahama was president and Mr. Cletus Avoka and E.T. Mensah who were pro-Rawlings, when Mahama was president.
“And can we forget former Attorney General, Martin Amidu and even our party’s founding mother, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings?” Moshake asked rhetorically.
He demanded that the NDC “stop the pro Mahama sacrifices that makes the party hound its own just to please Mahama and get back in touch with its ideals as a democratic party which is a congress at heart.
“If the NDC continues this way, it is only a matter of time before the party loses every single thoroughbred because whether we like it or not, former President Rawlings and former President Mills mentored the majority of the best brains we have in the party, Moshake stated.
