Premier Tennis Club Chairman Thanks God in Grand Style
The Chairman of the Tema Premier Tennis Club, Mr. Edward Ababio, alias Opuler, has celebrated the bountifulness and manifold blessings of God towards him and his family, thanking the creator for his grace and mercy.
The Edward Ababio family’s thanksgiving which came off at their plush Tema Community 3 home on Thursday, however, was not a modest affair - It was pomp and circumstance, with the crème de la crème of Ghana’s corporate and political circles attending. Music was provided by the Tema Choral Choir Group.
The artistic and stylistic manner in which Mr. Edward Ababio and his beautiful wife danced was admired by the huge gathering.
Also in attendance were members of the Tema Premier Tennis Club including Mr. Ebenezer Paa Kofi Grant, a respected retired educationist who was the master of ceremony and Mr. Napoleon Wobil, a high profile businessman who has travelled extensively.
“Looking back, I can only express gratitude to God for the many blessings, for the tender mercies and numerous acts of his grace towards me and my family in the years that have come to pass,” Mr. Ababio said to approval from his audience.
He added, “In the years coming, we will depend on the same grace and mercy that has sustained us this far.”
Counting his blessings, Mr. Ababio thanked God for his family, his friends, his career, the Tema Premier Tennis Club and even his enemies.
“Because in the presence of my enemies, God lays tables before me,” he said to wild applause.
Mr. Ababio told the gathering that he was involved in an accident at the Passion night club in Tema, five years ago and was hospitalized at the Tema Port Clinic, something that his wife confirmed.
However, here again, the grace of God prevailed and he survived, something that hugely influenced the idea of celebrating the goodness of God with a thanksgiving.
Among the notables in attendance was Lawyer Abraham Osei Aidooh, former Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, who confirmed the accident and thanked God for rescuing Mr. Ababio.
The respected Lawyer Abraham Ossei Aidooh, who is also a member of the Tennis Club, was also full of praise for Yaw Baffour Bonnie, the contractor who built the Tema Premier Tennis court, which he said has brought many people together and led to the forging of enduring friendships that would have otherwise not happened.
Also in attendance was Mr. Mike Offei, an international diplomat who narrated that his journey to becoming a member of the club had started when Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, had brought his father to Tema when he (Mike) was a child. He however grew up and joined the club through the instrumentality of Mr. Yaw Baffour Bonnie.
Mr. Offei suggested that the club be used to help the vulnerable in society.
