Madam Gladys Amenya, Hohoe Municipal Director of Education, has said about seven students share one textbook in Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Municipality.
She said though government provided some textbooks to the directorate, high enrollment due to free Senior High School policy was making the situation a challenge.
Madam Amenya was speaking at a town hall meeting held by the Information Services Department (ISD) on government’s policies and programmes in Hohoe.
She said free Senior High School was making education accessible and called for provision of textbooks to enhance quality teaching and learning.
Madam Amenya described the 30 per cent poor pass recorded in the area in the 2017 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) as unacceptable and asked that measures be put in place to address it.
The Director said government provided 450 mono desks to some SHSs in the Municipality last year and added that more would be supplied to help ease congestions in classroom.
