Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, created a scene at the police headquarters in Accra today, Wednesday, 10 November 2021.
An angry Shatta Wale stormed out of a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
The IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, had called a private meeting to interact with people in the creative arts industry.
Since his appointment as the IGP, Dr Dampare and the police management have been meeting with various stakeholders.
Today was the turn of the creative arts sector and Shatta Wale was also invited as an artiste.
Shatta Wale Breaks Protocol
As part of the protocol for the meeting, the media was asked to stay out of the meeting.
There was to be no recording of the meeting.
But Graphic.com.gh reported that Shatta Wale broke protocol and started filming the session.
A police officer reportedly asked him to stop and he got infuriated and reportedly spoke harshly to the police officer in the presence of the IGP and other senior police officers.
An order was reportedly given for him to be detained but some of the people at the meeting pleaded on his behalf and he was spared.
The website of the state newspaper reported that Shatta Wale was spotted moving out of the meeting room while the meeting was still in session and exhibiting an angry mood.
Some police officers followed him outside.
Shatta Wale’s anger was that he saw some of his colleagues at the meeting recording the session with their phones.
When he also pulled out his phone, a policeman approached him and asked him to stop and that is why he got angry.
