Brazil captain Thiago Silva admitted that he can’t promise that his side will win the World Cup, but he can promise they will play great matches.
Brazil goes into this summer’s tournament as one of the favourites. However, Silva believes they are unlikely to emulate his country’s famous sides of the past.
He told reporters ahead of their friendly against Croatia on Sunday: “We have a chance to play another World Cup and rewrite our story.
“We cannot promise the title, but we can promise great matches. By the time of the World Cup, you will see great football.”
After Croatia, the Selecao face Austria on June 10 before battling it out against Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia in the group stages in Russia.
