This Thursday’s episode of Good Evening Ghana was centered on women’s rights and it was indeed exciting to watch.
Paul Adom-Otchere got viewers laughing as he asked his production team to play Zangalewa, a Cameroonian song from the 90’s for Johnson Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito for making bad comment about women.
He actually said a particular crown should be taken from Manasseh Azure and given it to General Mosquito to wear. That crown is what Mr Adom- Otchere calls “Zangalewa” crown.
Peeved by the sexist comment by General Mosquito, the popular broadcast journalist said General Mosquito has disrespected women and for that matter he must apologize to all women in the public space.
He called on Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Dzifa Gomashie, Bettey Mould Iddrisu, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, Nana Oye Lithur, among other women to ask General Mosquito why he sought to disrespect them during an interview with Angel TV.
“This bigotry comment by General Mosquito should not be condoned in this era where the world is fighting for the rights of women. General Mosquito, your mother is also a woman so if you have a problem with Jean Mensa, do not ridicule all women,” Paul Adom-Otchere remarked.
The veteran journalist decided to stand up and fight for women’s right after Johnson Asiedu Nketia during an interview referred to an IPAC meeting with Madam Jean Mensah as meeting held at a women’s bathroom.
According to Mr Adom-Otchere, if such comment was made in the United Kingdom, top media houses like British Broadcasting Corporation, Sky News, will be calling on him to apologize to women.
He consequently called on all women in Ghana to send a text message to General Mosquito that he did not live up to expectation, and must not make such comments about women again.
Paul Adom- Otchere resultantly ordered his production team to play Cameroonian song ‘Zangalewa’ for General Mosquito.
“I’m taking the “Zangalewa” crown from Manasseh Azure and putting it on General Mosquito,” he said.
Well, the song was played for General Mosquito as directed.
