The National Democratic Congress has sent a bold message to the Electoral Commission over the call of the latter to have the allegations made by John Dramani Mahama that ballot papers were printed in favor of the New Patriotic Party in the 2020 General Elections. According to the National Democratic Congress, the party welcomes the decision for the police to investigate the case.
The party also pointed out the call for investigations to be conducted into the allegations made by their 2020 flag bearer that the military personnels influence the declaration of results in some constituencies is welcomed. According to the National Democratic Congress, they hope this is not a PR cover-up. This was posted on the Facebook timeline of Stan Xoese Dogbe, a leading member of the National Democratic Congress.
This release comes at the back of reaction by the Electoral Commission to the allegations made by the former President John Dramani Mahama that ballot papers were printed in favor of the NPP during the 2020 elections. In a press conference, Bossman Asare said “The former president has said the EC thumb-printed one million ballot papers in favor of the president of the republic. This is untrue. This is a great matter that undermines the credibility of our electoral process and should not be ignored. We call on him to provide evidence to support this claim. This is not a matter that should be ignored and we call on the Ghana Police Service to investigate”.
The National Democratic Congress has therefore accepted the challenge and hope the Electoral Commission did not say this just for PR cover-up.
