This is what Pogba and Griezmann bought for France teammates for World Cup win
Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann marked France’s World Cup win by buying commemorative rings for their teammates.
Didier Deschamps’ men went all the way in Russia last summer as they won the World Cup, 20 years on from their success on home soil.
To mark the triumph, Pogba and Griezmann came up with the idea based on the diamond-encrusted rings given to Superbowl winners.
The impressive bling also feature each players’ name on one side with ‘World Cup champions’ on the other, and a list of the results in Russia last summer.
Manchester United midfielder Pogba presented the Championship rings to his teammates after linking up on international duty this week.
“I consider them my family. It’s a small gift from me.
“A small gesture like that is nothing because a World Cup is for life. This ring you can lose, but the World Cup you do not lose that.”
French forward Griezmann had initially requested the special rings following the World Cup success and contacted the Los Angeles jeweler.
Pogba uploaded an image on Instagram of the French squad with their gifts while his midfield colleague Blaise Matuidi spent a special message of thanks.
“Unforgettable gift for an unforgettable memory. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” the Juventus midfielder said.
France open their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign as they take on Moldova on Friday before welcoming Iceland to the Stade de France.
