Thomas Partey becomes first Ghanaian to win Europa League trophy
Ghana International Thomas Partey has become the first ever Ghanaian to win the UEFA Europa League after his Atletico Madrid team beat Olympique Marseille 3-0 on Wednesday evening.
The 24year old who was introduced in the 88th minute to replace Ander Correa has been a key member of the Spanish side this season.
Partey made a total of 53 appearances in all competitions for Atletico and scored 5 goals in the 2017/18 season.
He is the current SWAG footballer of the year.
Previously known as the UEFA Cup, it’s format was changed and became known as the UEFA Europa League during the 2009/2010 campaign.
