A representative of the Conservative Party from the United Kingdom on Saturday minced no words by criticizing the display of opulence at the ongoing delegates’ conference at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
When John Hayward mounted the stage to offer his party’s solidarity message, he departed from the usual sycophantic posturing of political representatives, to question the motivation behind ostentatious organization of the event.
“I came through the streets today and I saw so many posters of the wonderful candidates here. But I had to reflect. I think I saw more posters than the delegates at this conference and I wondered, ‘is this really the best use of our resources?’” said the politician.
He however advised the party to refrain from the act and instead channel its resource into a more prudent and economic viable ventures.
The theme for the 26th conference is “Building a stronger party; delivering prosperity to Ghanaians”.
“Voters are less keen on parties but focus more on the internal issues on the parties. We hope that the NPP can reach out more on the people,” he noted.
