Ghanaian legal practitioner and former online journalist for Joynews and editor of the Ghana report, Edwin Appiah has argued that what the new IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare is doing is so basic to get any recognition.
The astute writer and editor said that updating the public promptly, responding swiftly to social media reports, showing the people respect ought to be as commonplace as common faith and so not anything extraordinary.
He also argued that Dampare has not started arresting Ghana’s den of private, powerful thieves, he is since arresting public jerks.
He added that he joins to praise Dampare but the state at which public safety is so broken for so long by the previous IGPs driving expensive cars and taking fat salaries and allowances very worrying.
“You just wonder whether in our praise, we are not revealing or accepting even unconsciously a lowered expectation of a high calling. And if we are happy with too little, too early and too quickly, are we not drugging our new heroes into our current understanding of progress where leaders light us a candle and assemble with great effort, a huge praise choir…” Part of his statement read.
