Top Ghanaian musician, Kwame Nsiah-Apau popularly known as Okyeame Kwame has questioned why some people contend that he’s spoiling his children due to their involvement in his showbiz activities.
According to the Yeeko hitmaker, involving his kids to dance in his music video is only a way of introducing them to his God-given talents which the kids may decide to follow his footsteps when they grow up in future.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Kastle FM in Cape Coast monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Okyeame Kwame wondered if a Lawyer, Doctor or Parliamentarian involving their kids in the work they do would also be seen as spoiling the kids.
He fumed “If I was a Lawyer and due to Covid kids are not going to school and I took my children to the court room well dressed in suit to listen to court proceedings would people say I’m spoiling my kids. If I was a Doctor and when going to the hospital I dress up my kids and allow them to learn as internship would they say I’m spoiling my kids. If I was a Parliamentarian and I took my kids to parliament would people say I’m spoiling them.
“So why is that when a musician teaches his children his work by involving them people conclude that he’s spoiling them. So I’m teaching my kids what God has endowed me with that is music, strategy and media related activities. So I’m teaching all my kids and not only them including my junior siblings that’s why Flowking Stone and Kunta Kinte became great musicians,” he added.
“I’m teaching them because those who follow learn from the footsteps of those ahead. We’ve taken them to school to learn, however this is what I’m good at as their father and if I don’t teach them in future they’ll say our father was wicked because our father was a top musician but he never taught us,” he said.
He continued “So I’m teaching them when they grow and they aspire to follow my footsteps fine. Whatever profession they choose in future, they can do this one as a hobby. It’s not only my male child but my female child can amaze you with dope raps that will leave you mesmerized so I’m teaching all of them.”
