We’ll contribute to Bolga Hospital dialysis centre project – Charger Ltd CEO

A campaign to mobilise funds for the establishment of a haemodialysis center at the Bolgatanga Hospital has been hailed by the Chief Executive Officer of Charger Limited Emmanuel Bortey Borketey.

The Upper East Region has emerged as the only region amongst the then ten regions without a dialysis centre. This has resulted in patients diagnosed with kidney diseases and needing dialysis traveling regularly to Tamale for dialysis.

Authorities at the hospital have disclosed that many have died as a result of their inability to afford traveling out of the region for the dialysis services.

Physician Specialist at the Bolgatanga Hospital Dr Emmanuel Akatibo has also revealed that the lack of the dialysis centre has made the management and treatment of kidney diseases at the referral facility difficult.

Speaking on Dreamz Fm in an exclusive interview, businessman and philanthropist Emmanuel Bortey Borketey said he strongly associates with the campaign and will take the necessary steps to support in the establishment of the dialysis centre.

The CEO who had requested for some update on the current cost of a dialysis machine said he believes when the information requested is received, his company through it’s board will make a significant contribution as part of the charity outreach of the company.

“As we discussed about the cost, I believe that when the cost come in, the God who gives us to give to humanity will bless us with the resources to be able to do that [support] because it is going to save a lot of people. To travel from Bolgatanga to Tamale to access dialysis is not right. Already you are sick, traveling over two hours and to come back is already killing you. When I saw the media fighting for the dialysis centre to come in I was happy and said it is a good call,” he said.

He added “Let’s see how best my company and the board can come in and give the needed support to have that dream realised”.
