Bawumia’s team refutes Deputy Railways Minister’s disrespect claims

A supporter of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Krobea Kwabena Asante, has responded to claims made by Deputy Railways Minister Kwaku Asante Boateng that Dr. Bawumia disrespected him during a public event.

Asante Boateng had stated that he felt disrespected by Dr. Bawumia during a visit to an area in the Asante Akim region and, as a result, could not support his campaign.

In response, Krobea Kwabena Asante shared a video on Facebook showing the interaction between Dr. Bawumia and Asante Boateng during the event. Asante claimed that the video evidence proves that Dr. Bawumia greeted Asante Boateng and shook hands with him, contrary to the claims of disrespect.

Asante Boateng had used the alleged disrespect incident as part of his rationale for declaring his support for Alan Kyerematen, another aspirant for the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer position.

The incident highlights the tension and divisions that can emerge within political parties, especially during periods of leadership contests or candidate selection processes. The public airing of such internal disputes can impact the party’s image and unity.
