Ken Agyapong’s brother officially declares interest in Bantama seat

Ralph Agyapong, a lawyer and the brother of Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central, has officially announced his interest to contest as the candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Bantama constituency.

In an interview with Hello FM on November 9, 2023, Ralph Agyapong shared that he decided to run for office after noticing widespread grassroots support for his campaign on social media.

Upon realizing the public’s endorsement, he sought guidance from his brother, Kennedy Agyapong, who gave his blessing for Ralph to enter the race.

“The overwhelming encouragement I’ve received from the people made me seriously consider contesting. When I observed my campaign posters circulating on social media, I reached out to Hon Ken, and he advised me to go ahead and vie for the Bantama constituency seat,” Ralph explained.

Expressing his commitment to the constituents, he stated, “I spend a lot of time in the Bantama constituency, and from what I’ve gathered, the constituents are dissatisfied with the current MP’s management. I feel compelled to step in and take charge. To the people of Bantama, I want to assure you that I have heeded your calls, and I am ready to contest and win the seat.”

The Bantama constituency in the Ashanti region is currently represented by Francis Asenso-Boakye, who also holds the position of Minister of Works and Housing.

Tensions between Kennedy Agyapong and Asenso Boakye have been evident, originating from comments made by the latter during the NPP presidential primaries, in which Kennedy was a contender.
