Bawumia Is A Far More Quality Material Than Mahama - Tema MCE
The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has graded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia miles ahead of former president John Mahama in the matter of the quality of presidential materials on offer in the race for the presidency in 2024.
In an interview with journalists on the sidelines of a Tema version of the Damba festival in the premier harbour city, Hon. Amarh Ashitey said the superiority of Bawumia is clear in any comparative analysis of the track records of the two candidates.
“Both John Mahama and Dr. Bawumia had the privilege of serving in office as Vice Presidents, but while Dr. Bawumia has come to be synonymous with great national projects and policies, Mr. Mahama, even after becoming president, cannot really boast of anything that he has been outstanding for,” the MCE said.
He pointed out that Dr. Bawumia is known as the architect behind the digitalization of Ghana for instance, while Mr. Mahama on the other hand cannot be synonymized with anything of positive national reckoning.
“Not only that, Dr. Bawumia is also known for the redenomination of the cedi even before becoming Vice President; he is known to be the one who championed the area addressing system in the country. It is thanks to him that today we have street names all over Ghana.”
On the contrary, he said, Mr. Mahama is remembered for “dum-sor”, the antagonization of teacher and Nursing trainees and the infamous ‘dead goat’ statement.
“These are just a few of the parameters in which Bawumia clearly beats John Mahama as a better presidential material. And do I need to remind that in terms of education Dr. Bawumia holds a PhD while Mr. Mahama holds a masters?” the MCE asked rhetorically.
The Tema Damba festival had been organized by the Dagomba community in the harbour city to bring a feel of the great festival to Dagombas in Accra. It was held on the forecourt of TMA.
It was attended by the crème de la crème of Tema politics, including the current sitting MP for Tema East, Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten.
But even though many big wigs were in attendance, the one who really commanded attention was Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey - he was mobbed by crowds of adoring fans at the venue. It took the MCE’s security details, the best of their efforts to protect and whisk him away after the event.
