Mahama is Campaigning Against NDC Again - Moshake

A former executive of the Tema East constituency branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Ashitey Adjei, has accused the party’s flagbearer of irresponsibly campaigning in a manner that ultimately harms the political fortunes of the NDC.

In a statement issued on social media, Mr. Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, said that the former President’s behaviour is a repeat of the same indiscretion that sent the NDC into opposition in 2016.

“John Mahama is simply campaigning against the NDC again,” lamented Moshake.
According to him, “it appears that he did not learn anything from the loose talks that sent us crushing out of power in 2016 and is bent on repeating the same irresponsible and highly costly behaviour.”

The lament is in response to the former President’s shocking claim, without any substantiation, that students who sat for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) were allowed to cheat during the exams.

The claim had been part of a broader claim that examination malpractices have increased under the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo.

But reacting, Moshake wrote that “this allegation, only rings spurious because it is not backed with any evidence.”

According to him, it is so irresponsible that all it potentiates is courting hatred for the NDC, among young people who have just come of age and can now vote.

“When you accuse an adolescent who has just become eligible to vote in elections of being an examination cheat, what do you expect of him when the time comes to vote? Mahama’s behaviour is even more wounding to the fortunes of our party than anything that the NPP can say against us,” Moshake wrote.

He likened the new line of campaigning to what he says were similar irresponsible comments that Mr. Mahama made while he was in office as president from 2012 to 2016.
“His self-destructive campaign hoopla are no different from his infamous dead goat syndrome declaration, his refusal to pay nursing and teacher trainees, or his disrespectful decision to appoint a visually impaired man as Minister for chieftaincy when in Ghanaian culture, chiefs are not to be led by people with disabilities,” Moshake wrote.

According to him, the continuance of Mahama’s “poisonous campaigning trends” from the previous years makes him the single most dangerous person to the NDC’s campaign.
“If it is not too late, I will urge the NDC to change him as flagbearer,” he wrote.

Moshake also reiterate that Mr. Mahama’s line of campaigning may not be unconnected to his continuous linkage to the NPP through Kufuor.

“Mahama is still Kufuor’s boy; he has one leg in the NDC and one leg in the NPP, I strongly believe that his self-defeating campaigns are due to wicked advise that he receives from Kufuor,” he added.
