Tema MCE applauds Bawumia Over Achievements in Education

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over what he says is the government’s unparalleled achievements in education.

Speaking to journalists in Tema Community 7 on Thursday, the brilliant MCE said through the instrumentality of the Vice President, the Akufo-Addo government has implemented the most ambitious and far-reaching policies in education.

“It would be recalled that when the government started the implementation of Free SHS, Vice President Bawumia was instrumental to the whole policy,” the MCE said adding that, “I feel that when it comes to education, Dr. Bawumia is not given his flowers at all, and so I will want to do that.”

Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey said that the ongoing roll-out of the Ghana Smart Schools Project in Accra, for instance, is directly the brain child of Dr. Bawumia who is digitalizing public service delivery.

“The Smart Schools project is particularly worth praising because it is an initiative that Dr. Bawumia is championing,” he said.

Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey also praised Vice President Bawumia for the one-student, one laptop policy, through which Government has furnished every senior high school student with a laptop each.

“Dr. Bawumia, our incoming president has a vision to digitalize Ghana and education is no exception; through the free laptops to students, he has established the foundation to educate our children into geniuses.”

Hon. Amarh Ashitey also pointed out that Vice President Bawumia is the one who was instrumental in getting the allowances of teacher trainees, to be reinstituted after former president John Mahama had cancelled it.

“Even as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has done more for education than any of the people who are contesting to become president in December 2024, whether they have been president before or not,” the Tema MCE said.
