Over GH¢300,000 spent on me for Cook-a-thon attempt – Chef Smith

Ghanaian Chef, Ebenezer Smith, also known as Chef Smith, says sponsors who spent huge sums of money on him can do whatever they wish with him.

In an exclusive interview on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere, Chef Smith disclosed that sponsors spent more than GH¢300,000.

“I can’t tell the exact amount my sponsors invested, but it may be more than GH¢300,000,” Mr. Smith stated.

According to him, he is ready to face any action from his sponsors.

“Words won’t be enough; at this point, I give my life out to my sponsors to do with me as they wish. I don’t even deserve to live because it’s too much for me to bear.”

He further stated that every action he embarked on with his Cook-a-thon attempt was fake.

“I forged the Guinness World Records certificate. It started with lies; it had to end with lies.”

“Guinness World Records have a lot of certificates on their online pages, so I just picked one and edited it with my details.”

On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith convened a press briefing at La Palm Beach Hotel to declare his purported achievement of setting the longest individual cooking marathon record.

Despite assertions from Chef Smith’s manager, Benny, that they received a confirmation email from GWR, Guinness World Records (GWR) stated that they have no record of any application or attempt from the Ghanaian chef.

In the midst of public condemnation, Chef Smith faced backlash after it was revealed that the certificate might not be genuine.

“No, it is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate,” the email from Madalyn Biefield, Public Relations Manager of Guinness World Records, disclosed.
