Black Stars captain blames defeat to Angola on poor pitch

    By: Bernard Nyankomago Kwasi

The skipper of the Black Stars, Thomas Partey has attributed their painful 1- 0 defeat against Angola in the 2025 AFCON qualifier to the bad nature of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

"This is a bad result for the Black Stars. We did our best but the pitch was not good enough" were the words of Thomas Partey in an interview with the press after the game.

After putting up a brave show for two successive wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Mali and Central Africa Republic, hopes were high that the Black Stars would repeat the dose on Angola in the AFCON 2025 qualifier in Kumasi.

Unfortunately, the Black Stars ended up dropping maximum points against their opponent. The first half ended in a goalless draw with only few chances created by both teams.

But the visitors upped their game after recess and scored a 94th match winner to silence the massive Black Stars supporters at the stadium.

It was coach Otto Addo's first defeat in a competitive game since returning to take over the Black Stars job a couple of months ago.

The Black Stars are hoping to make amends in the subsequent Group F matches against Niger and Sudan to restore their hope of making it to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on the North Africa Soil, Morocco.
